Last Friday, Jimmy and I stepped back in time for one of the most unique date nights we’ve had yet — an Edgar Allan Poe–themed speakeasy. Think moody lighting, hauntingly beautiful cocktails, and live performances of Poe’s most chilling tales. It felt like walking straight into a Gothic short story — only with better drinks. 😉
The Atmosphere
From the moment we walked through the door, we knew this wasn’t just a regular Friday night out. The venue was transformed into a shadowy 1800s parlor with candlelit tables, eerie music drifting through the air, and bartenders in costume.
Actors performed dramatic readings of Poe’s stories — The Cask of Amontillado, The Pit and the Pendulum, The Fall of the House of Usher, and The Masque of the Red Death — while weaving through the crowd. It wasn’t just a performance; it felt like we were inside the stories.
The Cocktails

Each story had its own paired cocktail, inspired by Poe’s writing. My favorite was The Fall of the House of Usher, a dark, moody drink that matched the atmosphere perfectly. We don’t drink, and they were super nice to provide us with mocktails!
What I Wore

You know I couldn’t resist the chance to dress for the occasion. I leaned into the Gothic-but-chic vibe with a dark dress, statement earrings, and a touch of romantic drama in my makeup. Jimmy even dressed the part, which made it all the more fun.

Why It Was Special
Beyond the drinks and theatrics, the night was a reminder that date nights don’t have to be the same old dinner-and-a-movie. This was an experience — something immersive, creative, and a little spooky (which you know I love).
Jimmy and I laughed, whispered guesses about the next scene, and clinked glasses while soaking in the stories that have haunted readers for centuries. It felt magical, in a dark, Poe-inspired way.
Final Thoughts

If you ever get the chance to attend an Edgar Allan Poe speakeasy, go! It’s the perfect mix of history, literature, cocktails, and entertainment. Whether you’re a die-hard Poe fan or just love a themed night out, it’s an unforgettable experience.
Sometimes the best memories come from stepping outside your normal routine — and this was one for the books. 🖤
