At a tiny little restaurant after work one day, wearing what most would definitely not consider a date night outfit, I met the love of my life.
Most of you haven’t known me for very long, and you probably don’t know much about my past. But one of the things in life I am most thankful for is the love that God sent to me on April 17, 2023.
A History of Heartbreak & A Leap of Faith
I have never had good luck in relationships. My friends used to joke that I should write a novel about my experiences—maybe some of you can relate.
I’ve dated:
👉 Mr. Know-It-All
👉 Mr. I’ve-Got-It-All
👉 Mr. All-The-Girls-Love-Me
👉 And of course, Mr. I-Need-You-To-Chase-Me
After yet another terrible date, I finally decided that at 45 years old, I was giving up. You know that old saying—once you stop looking, you’ll find the one?
Yep. That’s exactly what happened.
But here’s the thing—I never gave up on the belief that one day, God would send me the one I had prayed for.
The Night I Met Jimmy 💖
Little did I know, fate was stepping in.
One of my dearest friends, tired of watching me go through heartbreak after heartbreak, decided to do a little matchmaking. A few Facebook messages and a five-hour phone call later, we set up a date to meet the next day after work.
🕔 April 17, 2023 – 5:15 PM
I was over the dating scene. I didn’t go home to change. I didn’t put on makeup. I showed up in shorts, a t-shirt, and a ponytail, looking like I had just stepped out of the gym.
And then, Jimmy stepped out of his car.
I thought I was going to pass out. 😳
Now, obviously, looks aren’t everything—but you do need a little something there initially, right? But it wasn’t just that. I’m not sure what it was, but I swear it felt like God Himself smacked me upside the head and said:
“This one. This is the one you’ve been waiting for.”
We went into the restaurant. Jimmy talked and talked and talked—and I was so nervous I barely said a word. But when we said goodbye that night, all I could think was…
“I hope he calls me again.”
Love You More. Love You Most.
Fast forward to today, and I cannot imagine life without Jimmy. He is:
❤️ My protector
❤️ My jokester
❤️ My best friend
❤️ My forever
I used to have a list when I prayed for love. I asked God for a man who would:
✔ Be kind to me
✔ Love animals as much as I do
✔ Respect my family
✔ Protect my heart
God didn’t just answer my prayers—He exceeded them in ways I never imagined.
Jimmy doesn’t think he’s anything special—but he doesn’t know the heartache I’ve been through. And if you’ve ever experienced heartbreak, you know how precious it is to finally never have to feel that again.
We have one ongoing debate:
- Jimmy says: “Love you more.”
- I say: “Love you most.”
He thinks more wins. I say most trumps all. But in the end, it doesn’t even matter—because this love is immeasurable.
The Power of Divine Timing
They say God places people in our lives at exactly the right moment.
I know without a doubt that He placed Amanda in my life—the friend who introduced me to Jimmy. I also know that the day I stumbled upon Chelsea Walker’s photography, that was God, too.
Chelsea, the heart and soul behind Magnolia Legacy Photography, has captured our love in ways I never could have imagined. When she came to me with a collab idea, my answer was a resounding YES! 🙌
