This past weekend, October 3–5, Jimmy and I had the chance to play tourists in our own hometown. We checked into the historic Jekyll Island Club Resort for their Mystic Manor Weekend—and it was nothing short of magical (and a little spooky!).

Friday Night: A Haunted Welcome

Our weekend kicked off with a Haunted Welcome Reception that set the tone for all things eerie and elegant. Afterward, we climbed aboard a spooky trolley ghost tour, winding through the island’s dark corners and whispered legends.

Saturday was jam-packed with unique events:
- Candle Making Class with Mia Sims (@simsfamilyflowerfarm)
Mia guided us through creating our own custom candles. I made one called Haunted Marsh—a perfect souvenir that smells like the island’s mysterious beauty. Mia is a local and lives with her husband and children in Darien, Georgia. Her candles are sold at various places all over Jekyll, and in Darien in some downtown shops. - Haunted Tea
Think finger sandwiches and sweet treats with a ghostly twist. - Murder Mystery Dinner
That night, we stepped into a live whodunit while enjoying a buffet-style feast. The mix of suspense and laughter made it a highlight of the weekend.

Sunday: A Spooky Send-Off
We ended the weekend with a Haunted Brunch—another buffet filled with delicious bites before saying goodbye to Mystic Manor.
Our Stay at the Sans Souci Cottages

We stayed in the Sans Souci cottages, which felt like stepping back in time. Our room featured:
- A king bed with a shared balcony
- A cozy fireplace
- Two charming sitting areas
- A large bathroom with a walk-in shower
One important note: Sans Souci does not have an elevator, so keep that in mind if you’re packing heavy bags.

The Heart of the Resort

What truly made the weekend special was the staff. Every single person we encountered was beyond kind, welcoming, and eager to make our stay unforgettable. As locals, it felt like such a treat to escape into this storybook weekend right here at home.
