As the vibrant colors of fall begin to fade and the cooler air sweeps in, there’s no better time to make the most of this gorgeous season before it slips away. Whether you’re soaking up the last rays of autumn sunshine or savoring the crisp, cool air, fall has so much to offer! To celebrate the season, I’ve put together a list of things to do before the end of fall, along with some cozy outfit inspiration to keep you looking stylish during your autumn adventures.
1. Go Apple Picking

Nothing screams fall more than spending a day at a local apple orchard! It’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors, and you’ll leave with bags of fresh apples to bake into pies, crumbles, or just snack on. We love apples at my house, but unfortunately we don’t have any apple orchards near us. Most of those are in North Georgia, but if you have them where you live, make it a fun weekend outing with friends or family, and don’t forget to bring a basket for all the delicious apples you’ll be picking.
Outfit Idea:
- Cozy Flannel Shirt: A classic fall staple in warm tones like burgundy or mustard yellow.
- High-Waisted Jeans: Perfect for tucking in that flannel and keeping comfortable.
- Booties: A pair of ankle boots will keep your feet warm and stylish while walking through the orchard.
- Wide-Brim Hat: Add a felt hat for a polished fall look.
2. Take a Scenic Drive or Hike

Fall foliage is one of nature’s most stunning displays, and you don’t want to miss it. If you are lucky enough to see the leaves change where you live, take a drive through the countryside or plan a hike to admire them! Bring your camera or just soak in the beauty of the colors around you.
Outfit Idea:
- Chunky Knit Sweater: Opt for something oversized and cozy in a neutral tone like cream or rust.
- Leggings: Keep it comfy for the hike with stretchy leggings or fleece-lined pants.
- Puffer Vest: A lightweight vest will keep you warm without overheating.
- Hiking Boots or Sneakers: Choose comfy shoes for walking, especially if you plan to hike.
3. Host a Cozy Outdoor Bonfire

As the temperatures dip, gather your friends for an evening under the stars with a cozy bonfire. Last Christmas, Jimmy bought me a Solo Stove. Y’all! This thing is a game changer. There is no stinky smoke to contend with, saving your hair and clothes from that wonderful burnt fire aroma. Roast marshmallows, sip on hot cider, and enjoy the warmth of the fire as you chat the night away. It’s the perfect way to savor those last fall evenings (or, VERY FEW fall evenings if you live in South Georgia) before winter sets in.
Outfit Idea:
- Plaid Blanket Scarf: Wrap up in a huge scarf for warmth and style.
- Sweater Dress: Combine comfort and chic with a sweater dress paired with tights.
- Over-the-Knee Boots: For a touch of elegance that still keeps your legs warm.
- Faux Fur Jacket: Stay toasty by the fire with a cute faux fur jacket.
4. Visit a Pumpkin Patch

You can’t say goodbye to fall without making a trip to the pumpkin patch. Pick out the perfect pumpkin for carving or decorating your home. It’s also a great spot for photos with all the cute pumpkin displays.
Outfit Idea:
- Denim Jacket: A timeless fall piece that works with just about everything.
- Cozy Turtleneck: Layer under the jacket for a warm yet chic look.
- Corduroy Skirt: Add a touch of texture with a fall-friendly corduroy mini or midi skirt.
- Knee-High Socks & Boots: Knee-high boots paired with socks will keep you warm and stylish.
5. Bake Fall Treats

As the weather gets cooler, it’s the perfect excuse to stay inside and bake all those delicious fall treats. Whether it’s classic pumpkin pie, apple crisp, or homemade cinnamon rolls, now is the time to embrace all those cozy, comforting flavors. I absolutely LOVE anything pumpkin. When the stores start selling the canned pumpkin, I’m the crazy one with the buggy full of nothing but.
Outfit Idea:
- Cozy Sweats: Let’s be real—when baking at home, you want to be comfy! Go for cute lounge sets in soft fall tones like olive or burnt orange.
- Warm Socks: Keep your feet warm while you bake with some plush, thick socks.
- Apron: A cute fall-themed apron makes baking a little more festive (and keeps your clothes flour-free!).
6. Decorate for the Season

If you haven’t already, take a day to decorate your home with all things fall. Whether it’s pumpkins, cozy throws, or warm-toned candles, adding a few fall touches to your space will keep the season alive even as it comes to a close. I get so excited to decorate that I start September 1st!
Outfit Idea:
- Casual Loungewear: For a day spent at home decorating, go for a comfy but cute lounge set.
- Cardigan: A long, open-front cardigan will keep you cozy while moving around the house.
- Fuzzy Slippers: Stay comfy as you set up your fall decor with a pair of cute slippers.
The end of fall can sneak up on you, but there’s still time to soak up every bit of the season before it’s gone. If you live in the South, cool Fall days are few and far between. Whether you’re heading outdoors for a scenic adventure, hosting friends for a cozy night, or simply enjoying some quiet time at home, these activities—and outfits—will help you make the most of it. Enjoy the last days of fall in style!
