Hey y’all! On Saturday Jimmy and I went to our local county fair. I think everyone in the county had the same idea as we did, as there were SO MANY people there. There are so many reasons why I love going to the fair each year, but mainly for these three: the famous Demolition Derby, the yummy food, and let’s not forget the rides and games!
There is something wildly entertaining about watching old cars smash into one another. If you have never been, this is definitely a sight to see as daring drivers navigate their way through dust and car parts flying through the air while you watch from the bleachers.
I’d have to say my favorite thing about the county fair is the food. Nothing beats the taste of a county fair style corn dog, with the crunchy outside and tangy mustard. To die for! Let’s not forget about the funnel cakes, sausage dogs, turkey legs, candy apples, and cotton candy! It’s almost a crime to not partake while you are there. Today was not the day to think about calories; after all, it’s only once a year, right?
When I was a teenager, I LOVED the Gravitron. That pirate ship scares the heck out of me so that’s something I can pass on, but the nostalgia of the carousel and the Ferris wheel take me back to a time when my biggest worry was studying for a test! The games are their own special kind of fun. Whether it’s throwing darts or trying to ring that bottle, there’s bound to be a few laughs and maybe you will be lucky enough to win a prize at the end!
Every time the fair comes to town, you will find me there. Reliving my teenage years one crispy corn dog at a time.
