Ingredients
- 2½ lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, thinly sliced
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1½ cups shredded sharp cheddar
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Optional: ½ tsp garlic powder or nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9×13 baking dish.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and whisk in flour. Cook 1–2 mins.
- Slowly whisk in milk and cream. Stir until thick.
- Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup cheese, salt, pepper, and seasoning.
- Layer half the potatoes in dish, pour half the sauce. Repeat layers.
- Top with remaining cheese and bake covered 30 mins, then uncovered 25 more mins or until golden and bubbly.
