Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes
Rich, creamy, and baked to golden perfection, these scalloped potatoes are the ultimate comfort food side dish. Made with layers of tender potatoes and a cheesy cream sauce, they’re a cozy addition to any holiday table—especially alongside a honey-glazed ham!
- 2½ lbs Yukon Gold potatoes thinly sliced
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1½ cups shredded sharp cheddar
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Optional: ½ tsp garlic powder or nutmeg
Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9x13 baking dish.
In a saucepan, melt butter and whisk in flour. Cook 1–2 mins.
Slowly whisk in milk and cream. Stir until thick.
Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup cheese, salt, pepper, and seasoning.
Layer half the potatoes in dish, pour half the sauce. Repeat layers.
Top with remaining cheese and bake covered 30 mins, then uncovered 25 more mins or until golden and bubbly.
